CANADA. Victoria International Airport has awarded new dining and retail contracts to Compass Group Canada and LS travel retail as part of its C$8.1 million Airport Improvement Program.
Eurest Dining Services, a Compass Group Canada subsidiary, was awarded a ten-year concession agreement to operate all food & beverage services at the airport. For the pre-security offer, the company will continue operating its existing concepts: national Canadian brands White Spot and Tim Hortons, and global brand Starbucks.

The new post-security offer will be Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub, a 1,400sq ft local concept in the lower Departures area. The eatery, set to open in Summer 2013, will feature full service dining plus a bar/lounge area and a grab “˜n go concept.
LS travel retail North America was awarded a seven-year contract for two new retail stores set to open in Autumn 2013. Located pre-security, Breakwater Boutique will offer a tailored selection of local apparel and accessories, gifts and toys and convenience items.
Harbourwalk Shops & Duty Free will be located post-security, showcasing products reflecting the region. This store was designed especially for the airport and is said to feature the high quality apparel and fashion accessories from Canadian brands such as Sitka, Tilley Endurables and Cabrelli. It will also offer gourmet local products, souvenirs, and an expansive duty free selection.
As featured in The Foodie Report, a Request for Proposals was issued for the concepts earlier this year, the first RFP to be launched in ten years.
Victoria Airport Authority President and CEO Geoff Dickson said: “We sent a challenge to the market to create food & beverage and retail concepts that were a much greater representation of Victoria. Both of our successful proponents demonstrated they understood that vision and we are delighted to welcome these exciting new offerings.”
