L’Oréal Group said that it has entered negotiations with French investment holding Impala for the sale of the Roger & Gallet brand.
The decision comes after a strategic review of the best development options for Roger & Gallet.
Roger & Gallet is a fragrance company that was founded in Paris in 1862. While its origins where in pharmacy fragrances, the company grew and expanded its portfolio to include perfumes, toiletries, and skincare.
The company is known for its ‘art de vivre’ inspiration. In 2018, it generated €52 million in sales.
Roger & Gallet has been part of the L’Oréal stable since the group’s acquisition of Yves Saint Laurent Beauté in 2008.
Impala is the investment holding of French entrepreneur Jacques Veyrat. It has more than €2 billion in net assets.
While it is mainly active in the energy and industrial sectors, Impala also has a stake in the cosmetics sector, particularly with its involvement in the Augustinus Bader brand.
The project will be submitted for consultation to employee representatives of L’Oréal Group, with the aim of completing by this summer.
