INTERNATIONAL. Leading travel retailer ARI is celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) with a homepage makeover of The Moodie Davitt Report.
This year, ARI’s campaign follows the theme ‘A World of Difference’ and highlights the importance of diversity in travel retail and shines a deserved spotlight on the inspirational women that lead, inspire, motivate and encourage their colleagues.
ARI CEO Ray Hernan said: “As an industry, travel retail is wonderfully unique in that it is built on the very concept of diversity – with passengers travelling from all corners of the world to explore new countries, cultures and heritages.
“ARI is a global organisation and as such, we have an eclectic makeup of cultures, languages, and identities across our estate. Together these differences are what strengthens our business. Gender equity is a crucial part of our DE&I strategy at ARI and it’s something I am personally very committed to evolving for our business. We have made good strides, but we continue to challenge ourselves every day to do better.”
The wider global theme of IWD 2023 is #EmbraceEquity. The theme encourages people from all over the world to make gender equity a part of every society’s DNA.
The aim of the IWD 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign is to get the world talking about why equal opportunities aren’t enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action.
The campaign highlights the difference between equality and equity. Equality means each individual or group is given the same resources or opportunities, while equity recognises that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.
By articulating the difference between equality and equity, International Women’s Day seeks to promote long-term equity-based solutions that consider the diverse experiences of women and communities around the world.
“This International Women’s Day, we are proud to partner with an equitable company such as ARI that is committed to empowering all of its employees regardless of gender,” commented The Moodie Davitt Report Brands Director Hannah Tan-Gillies.
“Having a strong gender balance and encouraging the women in our team to take up space and become confident leaders is very important to us, and we share these important values with ARI.
“This week, The Moodie Davitt Report is shining the light on the women in travel retail who are embracing a world of difference in celebration of IWD. We feature female leaders, female employees and female disruptors who are making waves in travel retail and beyond. Today and for the rest of the rest of the year, let us embrace equity and lift each other up. There is no such thing as a glass ceiling if we all support each other.”✈
