US. Las Vegas McCarran International Airport posted a year-on-year traffic increase of +22.1% to 3.5 million passengers in April. Traffic for the first quarter of 2004 rose +14.5% to 13.2 million passengers.
The Las Vegas Sun reports that nearly every commercial passenger carrier serving McCarran showed double- or triple-digit percentage increases over the same period last year, with Southwest Airlines handling 1.1 million passengers at the airport in April – 17.3% of the total.
Out of 25 carriers serving McCarran, only American, Aloha, JetBlue, Spirit and AeroMéxico didn’t have double- or triple-digit percentage increases in passengers.
International traffic has also grown significantly, with Virgin Atlantic’s passenger numbers rising +107.3% year-on-year to 14,304 and Japan Airlines’ traffic rising +141.7% to 7,284 passengers.
Las Vegas McCarran is the seventh-busiest airport in the US.
