Airport Pharmacy continues expansion drive with debut at Melbourne Airport

AUSTRALIA. Travel specialist Airport Pharmacy has opened its first outlets at Melbourne Airport as part of its expansion in the channel.

The well-established Airport Pharmacy concept is now open at Terminal 4, while the group’s Health & Beauty concept has taken space in the Qantas-dedicated domestic Terminal 1.

The company began its journey in the travel sector in 2007 with an outlet at Adelaide Airport. It now runs eight stores across Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns and Melbourne airports in Australia plus Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 4.

Of the latest openings, Airport Pharmacy Director Rajiv Bhindi told The Moodie Davitt Report, “It’s a milestone we’ve long looked forward to, and I’m thrilled to finally bring our brands to Melbourne Airport.

The Health & Beauty concept builds on Airport Pharmacy’s expertise in a fast-growing segment of the market

“Having been part of travel retail for nearly 20 years, it’s rewarding to see the continued growth of our brands and the strong response from travellers.”

Bhindi said the company relies on an airport-first model instead of replicating a downtown pharmacy, which allows it to “cater to how travellers shop and what they value most while in transit”.

He said he believed that travellers deserve a pharmacy experience that feels “premium, purposeful and distinctly airport-specific, not just a scaled-down version of a downtown pharmacy. After nearly two decades in travel retail, we have a model that truly understands what airport customers want.”

The Airport Pharmacy brand has evolved since its early days, blending a pharmacist-led health focus with a curated but comprehensive beauty, skincare and travel essentials offer, said Bhindi.

The Health & Beauty concept brings that pharmacy expertise into the beauty space but in a way that is “vibrant and playful”, he added.

Bhindi said that 2026 is shaping up well with further openings planned.

“Early next year we’ll open our largest Health & Beauty store yet at Melbourne Airport, featuring several new luxury brands and an updated design concept. We’ve also recently renewed our Brisbane Airport contract, where we’ll soon launch a refreshed Airport Pharmacy format reflecting our latest design and customer experience standards. With further upgrades and new locations already in the pipeline for 2026, the future is bright for both our Airport Pharmacy and Health & Beauty brands.

“It’s an exciting time for the health, wellness and beauty category in travel retail, and we’re proud to be part of this momentum.”
