NORDIC REGION. Airport Retail Group (ARG) has opened two new stores in 1,500sq m of space at Rygge Airport, and is planning two new stores at Torp Airport, to open in 2014.
At Moss Rygge Airport south of Oslo, ARG already operated one store each in Departures and Arrivals. Last week it opened its new refurbished and expanded walk-through shops.
At Sandefjord Torp Airport, the company has one shop of 530sq m. By Spring of next year it will open two stores covering 1,600sq m.
ARG Chairman Kristoffer Olsen revealed the developments during this week’s Nordic Travel Retail Seminar.
ARG was established in 2005 after the acquisition of SAS Trading’s activities by owner and investment company Jotunfjell Partners. Its main activities are in duty free and fashion at airports in the Nordic region – the company is the leading specialist fashion travel retailer in Scandinavia with 17 stores.
ARG’s turnover in 2012 was NOK884 million (€118 million) including a number of domestic fashion stores.
The group has enjoyed a compound annual growth rate of +27% since its creation, Olsen revealed.
