CZECH REP. Alpha Airports Group’s purchase of Air Czech Catering (ACC) from CSA Czech Airlines has been approved by the airline’s shareholders and the sale looks set to be completed by April.
The new acquisition will fall under the Alpha Flight division and investment plans have already been agreed in line with ACC business plans. Initial discussions have also taken place regarding the introduction of Alpha’s product and service solutions into this market.
Alpha said: “The emerging markets of Central Europe are a key focus of Alpha’s business strategy. Alpha created a strong presence in the area following its entry into Romania and Bulgaria in 2005 and has continued to consider and actively seek out growth opportunities. The purchase of Air Czech Catering strengthens Alpha’s position in this market even further. It also provides CSA Czech Airlines with the opportunity to benefit from Alpha’s flight catering expertise to enhance its competitive edge at Prague Airport.”
Robert Shepherd, Managing Director, Alpha Flight- Mainland Europe/USA, commented: “We are delighted that the shareholders of CSA Czech Airlines approved the sale to Alpha of Air Czech Catering, CSA’s flight catering business based at Prague Airport. CSA Czech Airlines, in making their divestment decision, recognised that Alpha have the required experience and expertise, having operated Flight Catering units in Central Europe since 2005.”
Alpha Group CEO Peter Williams said: “The purchase of this business is part of Alpha Flight’s strategic growth in Central Europe. Alpha Flight has excellent credentials in this region and will actively manage the business in line with our internationally recognised high standards of product, efficiency, compliance and service.”
