NEW ZEALAND. Auckland International Airport handled 7.48 million international passengers (arriving and departing) in the 12 months to December 2008, up by +1.5% on the previous 12-month period. Domestic passengers numbered 5.8 million, up +10.7% on a year earlier.
In December, international passenger numbers slipped -0.6% to 700,185 while domestic passengers numbered 491,951, down by -5.2%. The domestic figure was in line with reduced capacity, said Auckland International Airport Limited, with Qantas among those to cut its schedules sharply.
