GERMANY. Global travel restaurateur Autogrill has unveiled a new restaurant concept in Hamburg Airport Terminal 1 named Brewgate Beer & Bites. Accommodating up to 100 guests and offering a wide variety of dishes and snacks, the airside venue specialises in local beer selections from St Pauli brewery ÜberQuell.
The company said the restaurant – which has runway views – has been designed with a “sports bar atmosphere that seamlessly blends contemporary allure with rustic charm”. The broadcasting of live football matches will be a feature.

Beer provider ÜberQuell has a brewery situated at the historic Riverkasematten on the banks of the Elbe River. Specialities include light beer, lager, cellar beer, pale ale, India pale and non-alcoholic ale.
The food menu features German bar and snack classics such as currywurst, alongside a range of international options.

Hamburg Airport Head of Center Management Lutz Deubel said: “We want to offer our passengers a wide variety of restaurants at the airport. I am all the more pleased that we can expand our range with a local highlight. Our international guests in particular can get their money’s worth with this concept and enjoy German classics.”
ÜberQuell Co-founder Patrick Rüther commented: “To us, craft beer isn’t just beer, but a continuation of 1,000 years of Hamburg’s beer history – a one-of-a-kind story in Europe. Hamburg was a prominent brewery during the Hanseatic era and is now, once again, one of the most innovative brewing cities in Northern Europe.

“Thanks to the collaboration with Autogrill, we not only reach tourists who are planning longer stays in our beautiful city, but also bring smiling faces to those here for a brief visit to Hamburg.”
Autogrill Channel Director Airports Germany Stefan Seiz said: “Our guests have a range of diverse wishes and needs. Therefore, it’s crucial for us to provide varied and flexible catering concepts that bring joy to all types of travellers.”
