CANADA. Vancouver International Airport (YVR), one of North America’s fastest-growing international airports, has launched four Request for Proposals (RFP) packages for the operation of 12 food & beverage locations.
The outlets embrace around 3,300sq m of F&B space, including quick service and full service restaurants, cafés and marketplace concepts in the domestic and international Terminals.
As revealed by The Moodie Davitt Report, the RFPs form part of a sustained wave of forthcoming commercial opportunities, including food & beverage, retail, news and gifts. The Moodie Davitt Report will be providing detailed coverage of the programme from RFPs through to concession openings.
“We are pleased to invite potential partners to tender for opportunities in food & beverage,” said Vancouver Airport Authority Director, Commercial Services – Terminals Mirela Rusu. “At YVR, we are seeking new and existing food & beverage partners to enhance our award-winning concession programme. Through the RFP process, we are looking for a balance of local and national flavours as well as international brands.”

Over the next three years, C$1.7 billion (US$1.3 billion) will be spent on major projects that enhance the airport experience. These include the upcoming expansion of Pier D, which will have new duty free, retail and food & beverage offerings.
In keeping with YVR’s commitment to create a unique Sense of Place, the new area will feature a ‘Mythical Island’ installation and act as a focal point for the retail and food & beverage hub. The Mythical Island will provide a West Coast-inspired setting, with, remarkably, an enclosed coastal island open to the sky.
Further details about the four RFP packages are as follows:
- Package 1 (two locations) consists of one full-service restaurant and one casual dining restaurant.
- Package 2 (one location) consists of one full-service restaurant.
- Package 3 (two locations) consists of one casual dining restaurant and one new location for a marketplace and bar concept in the Pier D expansion.
- Package 4 (seven locations) consists of six quick service restaurants and one quick service café.
Interested parties are asked to submit an Application and Confidentiality Agreement (ACA) by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, 15 June. Click here for more information. RFP materials will be distributed on Monday, 18 June.
YVR’s current concession programme includes over 170 shops, services and restaurants and boasts the highest spend per passenger of any airport in North America.
YVR is Canada’s second-busiest airport, having welcomed more than 24 million passengers in 2017—an +8.4% increase over 2016. YVR was recently voted Best Airport in North America for a record ninth consecutive year at the Skytrax World Airport Awards in 2018.
