Ballantine’s, Inniskillin, Chanel, Swarovski top Korean Air sales

SOUTH KOREA. Korean Air’s inflight duty free sales rankings by value for December 2010 saw Ballantine’s Scotch whisky, Inniskillin Icewine, Estée Lauder cosmetics, Chanel fragrances, Hawaiian Sun and Swarovski lead their respective categories.

Ballantine’s once again led the blended Scotch whisky rankings, followed by fellow Pernod Ricard brand Royal Salute and Diageo’s Johnnie Walker.

Inniskillin Icewine ranked highest in sales by value among other liquor brands, followed by Glenfiddich single malt, Camus Cognac, Chinese spirit Shui Jing Fang and Hennessy Cognac.

Estée Lauder retained its number one spot in the cosmetics rankings, followed by SK-II and Lancôme.

Korean Air, the world’s most successful inflight retailer, has roared back from a difficult 2009 to post a projected +21% rise in 2010 sales.

Assistant Manager In-Flight Sales Team Wonho Lee confirmed to The Moodie Report that sales should hit US$184 million in 2010, compared with US$152 million in 2009.
