Blender wins five-year catering contract at Norway’s Værnes Airport

NORWAY. Leading Norwegian catering company Blender AS has been awarded a five-year contract, valued at €20 million, to operate three dining outlets at Trondheim Værnes Airport.

The company will open three concepts in the airport’s International Terminal in Autumn 2013, including café and restaurant concept Simply Good, a Pronto Pronto kiosk and a pub concept called Barometer.

Simply Good will serve fresh pastries, sandwiches and salads at Værnes Airport

Blender Managing Director Ronny Gjøse said he is pleased to have won a “tough, demanding, highly competitive” tender against a number of other players.

“We are thrilled to have won this contract,” said Gjøse. “The airport is about to undergo some major remodelling, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to offer travellers a wide range of good food & beverage after the security check.”

Simply Good is a restaurant concept serving fresh pastries, sandwiches, salads, and main courses. The brand made a successful debut in 2011 at Sola Airport and Blender is confident it will enjoy similar success at Værnes Airport.

Pronto Pronto is Blender’s kiosk concept which will be located near Simply Good in the International Terminal. It will offer a variety of hotdogs, snacks, beverages, newspapers, magazines, and other kiosk items.

Barometer is Blender’s bar concept, serving a wide range of drinks including beer, wine and soft drinks. Blender said the emphasis will be on creating an inviting, varied interior that makes passengers feel at home.

Gjøse concluded: “We have offered Værnes Airport some of Blender’s most exciting concepts. We are looking forward to being able to offer a wide range of food made by dedicated chefs in Simply Good and great beverages in the cosy, pleasant atmosphere of Barometer.

“There will be something for everyone, whether they want a quick snack on the go, a nutritious bite, or a proper sit-down meal. We are looking forward to offering all this and more in autumn 2013.”
