Trident Splash Strawberry & Lime will enter Americas travel retail this year


US. Cadbury Schweppes is set to launch three brands of chewing gum into travel retail in the Americas region in mid-2007 – Dentyne, Chiclets and the world’s fastest-selling gum brand, Trident.

Three Trident multi-packs will be introduced: Trident Splash Strawberry & Lime, Trident White Spearmint and Trident White Peppermint. All contain three individual blister packs, sealed for freshness.

Said Tiho Marinac, Cadbury Schweppes Regional Manager for Americas: “We are very excited to be launching Trident into travel retail, as there has already been significant interest from the trade. Trident is a well-known and popular chewing gum with a history in the Americas region, and we are delighted to be able to offer travelling shoppers their favourite brand.”

Launched in 2001, Trident White is a sugarless gum which, the makers say, uses a unique technology to help whiten teeth. Trident Splash is also sugar-free, “with a liquid-filled centre encased by soft, chewy gum and a sweet, crunchy outer shell”. The exotic combination of flavours in the Strawberry & Lime gum is said to create a “unique, refreshing mouth sensation”.

Trident started its life in the United States in 1964, and the US remains its most important market, accounting for one-third of its sales.
