Pen of the Year: The Swiss-made 1010 Limited Edition from Caran d’Ache |
SWITZERLAND. The 1010 Limited Edition from Caran d’Ache has won the prestigious Pen of the Year prize by readers of Pen World magazine.
The Swiss-made pen was designed and produced as a tribute to fine Swiss watchmaking. 500 pieces are made in rhodium-coated silver and 10 in gold.
“The incredibly intricate design of the 1010 Limited Edition from Caran d’Ache, Maison de Haute Ecriture, is a
magnificent celebration of the genius of Swiss watchmakers,” said Pen World Editorial Director Marie Picon.
The Pen of the Year prize is another success for the limited-edition pen. In October 2007, in the prestigious Salon d’Honneur of the Brongniart Palace in Paris, the piece was rewarded with the Grand Prix du Stylographe 2008.
Travel retail update
In travel retail news, Caran d’Ache recently opened a shop-in-shop at Zurich Airport with The Nuance Group and a children’s corner in Buenos Aires Airport. In addition to supplying children’s products, the Buenos Aires location also features a pencil display and a fine arts showcase, Caran d’Ache International Duty Free Manager Urs Messerli told The Moodie Report during the TFWA Asia Pacific show in Singapore.
Other highlights include the opening of a shop-in-shop with Sunrise Duty Free in Beijing Terminal 3, where the brand has two other points of sale in the airport showcasing its pencils and fine arts products. At Shanghai Pudong Airport, the company has two points of sale with Sunrise for its writing instruments.
Further expansion is taking place in the Americas as leading South American travel retailer Motta Internacional features Caran d’Ache displays at airports in Caracas, Panama and Guatemala City.
Exciting new product launches are promised for TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes in October, revealed Messerli.
