EGYPT. The Chalhoub Group has opened its joint venture shops at Cairo International Airport terminal one in partnership with Egyptair and the airport authority.
Chalhoub holds a dominant share in the new joint venture. The company has invested heavily in a high-class retail offer.
Managing director Anthony Chalhoub told The Moodie Report: “We started operations on the 12th of April 2004 with a very soft opening. The goods are pouring in and all the shops are operational.
“The terminal is great, the facilities are wonderful with a lot of room and a nice mix of different cultures and opportunities (various dedicated lounges and dedicated restaurants) with extremely high standards.”
Food & beverage facilities (not operated by the partnership) have also been upgraded radically. “Within a few days, the coffee shops, bars and restaurants will be open and passengers will be encouraged to visit all the facilities in the terminal,” said Chalhoub.
