China to introduce new aviation security measures on 1 May – 21/03/07

CHINA. China has announced that it will introduce new airport security rules, in line with those laid down by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, on 1 May.

This includes the 100ml limit per container on LAGs carried landside to airside by passengers.

The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA), quoting ACI Asia Pacific, revealed the news this morning.

APTRA said: “Duty free is recognised in the statement but exact details are not clear cut and we are seeking further clarification. Currently the indication is that duty free liquids (of no more than one litre) may be carried on board. Wine above the limit must be checked into the passengers’ luggage.
“There is an indication that transit passengers (purchasing duty free goods) may be allowed to transfer (with plastic bag and receipt) but again further clarification of the translation is being sought.”

We will bring you further updates as they become available.
