Coole Swan awarded Special Merit by Bord Bia – 05/11/07

IRELAND. Coole Swan, said to be Ireland’s first super-premium cream liqueur, has won the Special Merit Award at the Bord Bia Food and Drink Industry Awards 2007.

The awards ceremony, held on 1 November in Dublin, recognises businesses that provide food and drink solutions for the modern consumer.

The Special Merit Award was created by Bord Bia as an extension of the original entry categories. Over 200 entries were considered for each of the seven awards presented.

The independent judging panel consisted of John Fanning (Mc Connells), Simon Booth (E.H. Booth UK), Greg Dawson (Whole Foods, UK), Liam Igoe (Food and Drink Analyst, Goodbody Stockbrokers), Paula Mee (Nutrition Consultant and RTE Health Squad), David Mulcahy (Sodexho UK), Marie Melnyk (Former Trading Director, Morrisons UK), Mitzie Wilson (Daily Mail Columnist) and Gordon Campbell (Managing Director International Spar Centrale B.V, The Netherlands).

Coole Swan uses fresh double cream from Ireland’s dairylands, which is blended with single malt Irish whiskey tempered with charcoal-filtered spirit. The heart of the blend comprises notes of white and dark chocolate, infusions of Madagascan vanilla and rich cocoa from Cote d’Ivoire.
