COSMETICS: Jurlique prepares for Cannes offensive

AUSTRALIA. Australian beauty brand Jurlique, which promotes itself as “the purest skin care on earth” is stepping up its efforts within the travel retail channel. The company has appointed Escale Group as its worldwide duty free agent, and will be present at this month’s TFWE World Exhibition.

Jurlique enjoys a strong domestic presence worldwide through concept and department stores, and day spas. It is already available throughout key Asia/Pacific travel retail doors.

Jurlique products and their use are based on the principles of holistic well-being, and feature natural, organic ingredients which are grown on the company’s herb farms in Australia. Every step of production is controlled within the company, from owning and operating the herb farms, to training its retail staff and therapists.

Jurlique’s extensive product range features more than 250 skus and covers skincare, body care, hair care and aromatherapy lines. All have a shelf life greater than three years. However, they contain no petro or coal tar chemicals; no animal products; and no artificial colours or fragrances. In addition, all products are fully biodegradable, and the packaging is 100% recyclable.

According to the company, Jurlique products are suitable for all skin types, of all ages and in all climates. Founder and managing director Dr Jurgen Klein describes them as the equivalent of herbal vitamins.

“When we put a product on our skin, it is absorbed through the skin into the blood and lymphatic system,” he explains. “[Product] should be as clean as good food is. Unless a product is natural, putting it on your skin will introduce foreign chemicals to the body. This leads to premature ageing, allergies and other reactions.”
