Davidoff Cigars launches its first Nicaraguan box pressed line

“An Adventure for the Adventurous”: Davidoff Nicaragua Box Pressed comes in Robusto and Toro formats

Davidoff Cigars has launched its first Nicaraguan box pressed line. Described as “An Adventure for the Adventurous”, the new Nicaraguan box pressed line follows the release of the Davidoff Nicaragua range and its recently introduced Rio-inspired Brazilian blend Davidoff Escurio.

Davidoff said its tobacco Masters, led by Master Blender Henke Kelner, sought an intense blend that would stimulate both bitter and sweet taste buds. The new line is crafted with leaves from plants grown in the volcanic soil of the Estelí, Condega, Jalapa and Ometepe regions of Nicaragua.

Oettinger Davidoff Senior Vice President Global Marketing Charles Awad said: “Davidoff’s mission is to open the aficionado’s world by encouraging them to venture beyond the familiar, their go-to cigars and origins, and explore new ways to fill their time beautifully. After the huge success of Davidoff Nicaragua, our master blender crafted these superb and more intense Nicaraguan Puros, in a box pressed format, to spice up the aficionados’ adventurous exploration and take them on a new and more extreme flavour journey.”

Typical of Nicaraguan cigars, the cigar shape is square, which claims to offer a larger than normal fresh air draw. “The presence of additional fresh air lowers the temperature of the smoke, thus intensifying the aromas and flavours,” Davidoff stated.

The wrapper is Nicaraguan Habano Oscuro, said to intensify flavours and aromas, including pepper and roasted almonds, and its spicy character.

The Davidoff Nicaragua Box pressed line comes in two formats: Robusto (48 RG x 5″, 12.7 cm) and Toro (52 RG x 6″, 15.2 cm). Presented in boxes of 12 cigars and packs of four cigars, it will be available in appointed USA merchants by late March and in selected outlets and Davidoff flagship stores worldwide in the summer.

In a recent interview with The Moodie Report, Oettinger Davidoff CEO Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard talked about the company’s ambitious retail development programme around the world.
