UK. Diageo has restructured its Global Duty Free business unit to improve its focus on customers and create simpler, faster internal processes.
In order to increase the number of “customer-facing resources” and to align the division with Diageo’s domestic structure, Global Duty Free is being re-organising around geographical regions and customers.
Global Duty Free Managing Director Ron Anderson said that Diageo has long recognised the value of specific focus on this “unique” channel and said the unit will continue to operate in the same manner
The previous five geographical customer groupings will be reduced to three, each led by a Regional Director reporting to Anderson. , All appointments are effective 1 July.
David Segreto, currently Customer Director Australia Pacific, is appointed to the new role of Regional Director, Asia Pacific.
Olaf Grewe, currently Customer Director Europe North, is appointed to the new role of Regional Director, Europe
Peter Jacobson is appointed to the newly created role of Global Duty Free Commercial Director. He will be responsible for building pan-Global Duty Free sales and commercial capabilities.
Diageo’s well-respected duty free man in Asia Trevor Adsett will leave the company and return to his native New Zealand at the end of December. He will support Segreto in setting up his expanded team as well as working on specific projects in the region.
Adsett will have spent 18 years with Global Duty Free by the time he returns home. Anderson commented: “In that time he has contributed massively to the stunning growth in our Asian business in Global Duty Free.”
Marc Mirgel, currently Customer Director Americas South, will be returning to Germany over the summer after three successful years on assignment in Miami, His new role will be subject to a further announcement as will his successor.
