EUROPE. Passenger traffic at European airports increased by +7.3% in November compared with November 2009, according to ACI Europe’s latest figures.
The accumulated figure for passenger traffic from January to November showed an increase of +4.8% compared with the corresponding period in 2009.
Airports welcoming more than 25 million passengers per year (Group 1), airports welcoming between 10 and 25 million passengers (Group 2), airports welcoming between 5 and 10 million passengers (Group 3) and airports welcoming less than 5 million passengers per year (Group 4) reported average increases of +6.9%, +7.2%, +7.8% and +8.0% respectively when compared with November 2009. A comparison of November 2010 with November 2008 indicates an average increase of +8.4%, +7.5%, +5.0% and +10.7% respectively.
Examples of airports that experienced the highest increase (in passenger traffic per group, when comparing November 2010 with November 2009) include:
Group 1 airports: Barcelona (+15.1%), Istanbul (+12.4%), Amsterdam Schiphol (+11.1%) and Munich (+10.8%)
Group 2 airports: Moscow Sheremetyevo (+28.4%), Moscow Domodedovo (+16.2%), Helsinki (+13.6%) and Antalya (+12.6%)
Group 3 airports: Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (+47.3%), Ankara (+31.5%), Moscow Vnukovo (+13.7%) and Stuttgart (+11.0%)
Group 4 airports: Brindisi (+52.8%), Podgorica (+42.2%), Dubrovnik (+36.4%) and Bari (+27.7%).
