INTERNATIONAL. The Foodie Report and sister title The Moodie Report are delighted to reveal the shortlist for the second annual Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Awards, this year hosted by Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

The awards will be presented during a glittering Gala Dinner, sponsored by Platinum Sponsor SSP, at the stunning Okura Hotel Amsterdam on 21 June, a centre of culinary excellence in the Dutch capital.

The judges, David King, industry veteran and Director of the David King Partnership; The Moodie Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie; and experienced US airport commercial revenues consultant and North American Bureau Chief for The Foodie Report Patricia Ryan, selected the shortlist from nearly 170 entries, spanning airports on every continent, plus (for the first time) the best in railway station food & beverage.

The resulting shortlist is a compelling snapshot of the best in travel-related, revenue-generating food & beverage operations worldwide.

The Moodie Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie said: “We have been blown away by the incredible standard of nominations this year. The competition has been intense, the standard way ahead of last year and the level of innovation truly impressive.

“The quality of the nominations, in words, pictures and video, has made judging a long and tough but hugely enjoyable process. The number of entries also made our lives difficult as judges and there were several categories where it was very difficult to single out a winner.

“Many of the industry’s most important dynamics were aired time and again in the nominations – from Sense of Place to sustainability; from food provenance to the use of social and digital media; from promotional excellence to Corporate Social Responsibility. Service quality, product quality, value for money and commercial success (for both airport and operator) were also recurrent themes of this year’s entries.

“Our shortlist reveals some of the most creative, innovative and truly world-class concepts in the industry. These awards are testament to the fact that travel-related food & beverage is evolving before our eyes and reaching heights undreamed of a decade ago.”

The FAB-ulous Amsterdam event will kick off with the Opening Evening Cocktail on 20 June hosted by leading global concessionaire and Platinum Sponsor HMSHost. Delegates will be treated to a canal cruise, departing promptly at 7pm from The Okura Hotel.

The FAB conference has attracted delegates from the world’s leading concessionaires and airports, keen to participate in the industry’s only dedicated F&B event.
