Finnish ferry traffic up – 04/11/04

FINLAND. The number of people transported by ferries on Finnish routes grew by 423,000 to 12.6 million in the first nine months of this year, compared to the same period last year.

The Finnish Maritime Administration said that traffic between Finland and Sweden grew 234,000 to 7.3 million, while that between Finland and Estonia was up 223,000 to 4.6 million.

The route between Finland and Russia got almost three times busier, with passenger numbers growing from 25,200 to 75,400.

However, 76,000 fewer people took the lines between Finland and Germany compared to the same period last year.
