First blended malt Scotch whisky from House of Chivas launches in travel retail

chivas-70cl-bottle-on-whiteChivas Regal has launched the House of Chivas’ first blended malt Scotch whisky in travel retail.

Chivas Regal Ultis uses single malts from five signature Speyside distilleries in Scotland, and is claimed to represent the style and diversity of the region.

Less than 1% of the millions of casks in inventory at Chivas Brothers are used to create the expression, with the company employing a traditional hand-selection technique it said was no longer standard in the Scotch whisky industry.

Chivas Regal Ultis pays tribute to the five master blenders there have been in the company’s history: Charles Howard, Charles Julian, Allan Baillie, Jimmy Lang and Custodian Master Blender Colin Scott.

The slender bottle features a contemporary crest in gold champagne. In honour of the Chivas Regal master blenders and representing the five signature malts within, the bottle features a pen-clip closure which is etched with five rings. It also features the Roman numeral figure for five prominently on the base and within the textured crest label.

“I am honoured to have been one of only five master blenders for Chivas Regal, and I believe that Chivas Regal Ultis represents the true essence of this iconic Scotch whisky,” commented Chivas Regal Custodian Master Blender Colin Scott.

“Chivas Regal Ultis is a blend that draws on expertise that has been handed down throughout the centuries and it will delight whisky connoisseurs around the world.”

Chivas Regal Global Brand Director Richard Black said the launch was a “momentous occasion” and a “fitting tribute to our legendary craftsmen of the past”. He said: “Chivas Regal Ultis is set to appeal to discerning drinkers looking to impress at special occasions as well as Scotch whisky aficionados searching for their next luxury whisky experience.”

Chivas Regal Ultis comes with a RRP of US$200 and will be made available in travel retail and in the domestic market from this month.
