Former Swedish leader to speak at key Nordic industry event

NORDIC REGION. Former Swedish Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Göran Persson will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Nordic Travel Retail Seminar, which takes place at Stockholm’s Nova Park Conference venue on 26 May.

Göran Persson: keynote speaker

The theme of the event is “˜Prepared for everything’ and organiser the Nordic Travel Retail Group said this fitted neatly with Persson’s views on politics and society. “We will always face new challenges. People’s needs and demands grow and change all the time. Previous challenges return,” he said.

Besides his political activities and achievements Persson is married to Anitra Steen, who is a former Managing Director of Swedish wine and spirits monopoly Systembolaget, which exerts a key influence on travel retail trading and pricing in Sweden.

Other speakers expected to take part include Hume Brophy Partner John Hume, who is scheduled to speak on threats to the business. Also listed is Alexander Erwik, Editor in Chief at www.finest.se, who will speak on the benefits of social media and blogging to brand owners, and SAS Head of Social Media Christian Kamhaug will address the topic of “˜Social Media Support of Sales and Service’ and how to make social media relevant to customers.

The Moodie Report Deputy Publisher Dermot Davitt will moderate the event.

“We are honoured to present Mr Göran Persson as our keynote speaker,” said NTRG Board Chairman John Baumgartner. “I am sure he will inspire us and motivate us to be prepared for future possibilities and challenges.

“Furthermore we are looking forward very much to being led into exciting social media experiences by two successful and prominent speakers. And like every year, we are proud to host such a great networking opportunity for the travel retail business in the Nordic region.”
