Frankfurt Airport: Solid passenger growth in October and year to date |
GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport handled 5.7 million passengers in October, a solid +4.3% rise year-on-year and a new record high for the month. The previous year’s figures were influenced by Lufthansa’s two-day pilot strike. Year to date the German hub has handled 53 million passengers, a rise of +3.7% on the first ten months in 2014.
Fraport AG’s international airport portfolio also achieved mostly positive results for passenger traffic in October.
Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia greeted 128,478 passengers, representing a sharp +9.4% traffic surge compared to the same month last year.
Lima Airport in Peru recorded strong growth of +11.7% to 1.6 million passengers, while the Bulgarian Black Sea airports of Varna and Burgas saw traffic rise by +10.5% to 86,290 passengers.
Antalya Airport posted a slight -0.8% drop in traffic to 2.8 million passengers, with St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport declining by -5.1% to 1.1 million passengers, due to the weak domestic economy.
At Hanover Airport in northern Germany, traffic climbed by +1.8% to 581,355 passengers. Traffic figures at Xi’an Airport in central China advanced by +8.7% to 2.9 million passengers.
