Game, set and match for Dubai Duty Free – 03/08/05

UAE. For the second consecutive year, the Dubai Duty Free Men’s Open tennis tournament has won the ATP Award of Excellence for Marketing and Promotion. The award, presented in London by the governing body of men’s professional tennis, recognises the outstanding marketing and promotional activities of the 2004 tournament.

Owned and organised by Dubai Duty Free, the ATP men’s tournament attracts the world’s top tennis players and is run back-to-back with the Dubai Duty Free Women’s Open to form the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Commenting on the award, Dubai Duty Free Managing Director Colm McLoughlin said: “Earlier in the year, the 2004 Dubai Duty Free Men’s Open won the ATP award for Tournament of the Year, so winning another award for the same tournament is a fantastic achievement.

“A great deal of hard work goes into the marketing and promotion of the Dubai Tennis Championships, which is watched by over 1 billion people worldwide and receives global press coverage. I would like to thank all of those involved in the ongoing success of this event, which has helped to position Dubai as a first-class sports and leisure destination.”

The latest award is the 12th ATP award to be presented to Dubai Duty Free for the men’s international Series Gold event since it began in 1993. The inaugural Dubai Duty Free Women’s Open in 2001 was presented with the Tournament of the Year award from the WTA.

Held under the patronage of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence, the 2006 Dubai Tennis Championships will take place from 20 February to 4 March.
