GERMANY. German carrier Lufthansa posted a passenger traffic rise of +8.1% year-on-year to 3.6 million in December 2004, encouraged by the general upward trend across the world’s regions.
Passengers on Asia Pacific routes rose +24.6% year-on-year to 293,000 in that period. The Middle East and Africa recorded a +7.7% rise to 157,000. Europe followed closely behind at a +7.5% rise to 2.7 million. Rising confidence in North and South American international travel was reflected in the upward figures of +2.6% to 405,000.
For the year ending December 2004, passenger traffic rose +12.0% to 50.9 million against the same period in 2003. In that period, Asia Pacific traffic swelled up to 3.6 million, a +26.0% increase. Middle East and Africa grew by +15.8% to 1.8 million. European traffic climbed +11.0 to 39 million, followed closely behind by the Americas at +10.5% to 5.9 million.
