MALAYSIA. Gebr Heinemann has hailed the importance of its new business at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for its Asia Pacific division. As revealed earlier this month, Heinemann Asia Pacific has won a 1,240sq m multi-category concession called “˜be Duty Free’ at KLIA’s forthcoming new terminal klia2.
Located before the sky bridge, be Duty Free, also known as Brand Emporium, will carry a wide range of products ranging from perfume & cosmetics and confectionery to accessories and souvenirs.
This will be the second retail concept store managed by the travel retailer after it won the liquor concession, trading under Vine & Leaf, at Changi Airport Terminal 2 in October 2011. be Duty Free will operate under Heinemann Duty Free Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Heinemann Asia Pacific Pte Ltd.
In line with Malaysia Airports’ ELITE (Experiential, Liberating, Innovative, Thrilling and Ever-changing) brand principles, the store concept revolves around exceptional customer service, innovative and cutting-edge store design, a wide assortment of international and local brands, advanced technology and a strong Sense of Place.

Heinemann Asia Pacific Chief Executive Officer Steffen Brandt said: “We are very happy with the result of the tender. It represents a significant development for Heinemann Asia Pacific as we expand our business in the region. It also marks the beginning of the long-term partnership with Malaysia Airports.
“be Duty Free will be our largest multi-category retail concession in the Asia Pacific region. We offer a young, vibrant and refreshing experience focused on customer needs and the passenger demographics. It reminds travellers that their journey begins at klia2, and offers an array of experiences that just have to “˜be’ discovered. We are confident to bring new heights to the airport shopping experience. Our team is highly motivated and committed to bring the store to the consumers,” Brandt added.
