HMSHost introduces touchscreen tablet menus to Phoenix Sky Harbor

US. Global concessionaire HMSHost has introduced touchscreen tablet menus to its dining outlets at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The Presto tablet, made by technology company E La Carte, allows guests to browse detailed menus with pictures, receive menu recommendations, place orders, split bills and make credit card payments from the restaurant table. It also includes interactive games to entertain guests while they wait for their meal.

Following its debut at Phoenix the concessionaire plans to roll out the tablet technology to additional restaurants across its portfolio of 113 US airports.

A touch of technology: HMSHost plans to introduce the Presto touchscreen tablet menus to its airport restaurants across the US

HMSHost Chief Innovation Officer Paul Mamalian said: “The Presto tablet is a natural fit for our airport restaurants, as we constantly seek to identify innovations that will enrich travellers’ dining experiences.

“The Presto tablet directly addresses travellers’ primary concerns: speed of service and convenience. It gives customers more control and allows them to pace the meal themselves, whether they’d like to sip cocktails at one of our bars while waiting for their flight, or indulge in a quick meal without having to wait for their bill. It’s truly the future of hospitality for airport dining.”

HMSHost said that the tablets have significantly increased customer satisfaction, with an average increase in tips of +15% and an average +10% increase in sales. The operator said that by putting customers in control of when they order and when they pay their bill, it is empowering them to get in and get out at their own pace, something especially important when they have a flight to catch.

E la Carte CEO Rajat Suri said: “HMSHost has been a great partner in this initiative. Serving the busy road warrior is an excellent application of our Presto tablets and with HMSHost’s global reach, we are looking to fundamentally upgrade the traveller dining experience.”
