ASIA. Inflight concessionaire ISG and fast-growing low cost airline AirAsia have introduced a new range of duty free items onboard the carrier’s international flights.
“We have updated the range of fragrances and cosmetics to bring in the new products from Estée Lauder, Clinique, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Lancôme, L’Oreal and Chanel,” stated ISG Marketing and Sales Director Patrick Garreau.
ISG said that the new catalogue continues the theme “˜Now Everyone Can Fly; Now Everyone Can Buy’ that “has met with great passenger acceptance and which reflects AirAsia’s innovative spirit”.
It added: “With high load factors and rapid growth at AirAsia, sales are increasing dramatically month to month. AirAsia now serves 16 international destinations from its hubs at Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok and Jakarta, including Xiamen, the first of five planned Chinese destinations, which makes AirAsia the first low cost airline with access to the People’s Republic of China.”
AirAsia, profiled recently in The Moodie Report print edition, takes delivery of the first of its new fleet of 60 (plus 40 options) Airbus A-320 aircraft later this year. The new aircraft have higher seat capacity and longer range than the current fleet of Boeing 737s, Garreau commented.
“The airline plans to carry 8 million passengers in the next 12 months,” he said. “This steady passenger growth, along with the enthusiasm of the cabin staff and passengers’ propensity to shop onboard, puts the AirAsia duty free programme among the largest in the south Asia market and we are very happy with our results to date. AirAsia is an excellent partner and we are growing together.”
