MacDuff introduces innovative blended malt under Grand Macnish name

MacDuff International has introduced an innovative new blended malt to the travel retail channel under the Grand Macnish Scotch whisky brand. The Six Cask Edition blends together single malts from each of Scotland’s six major whisky regions: Highland, Speyside, Islay, Campbeltown, Lowland and Islands.

The company descried the blended malt as “Scotland in a bottle” and said that it should appeal to whisky enthusiasts, offering the opportunity to talk about all of the major Scotch regions.

The average age of the malts in the blend is around eight years and its price point will be slightly below brands such as Monkey Shoulder.

It is already available in duty free through Dubai Duty Free as well as in certain domestic markets.

MacDuff International Export Sales Director John Scott said: “We think that our blended malt will appeal to the travel retail consumer in Asia Pacific and draws on Scotland’s rich whisky-making heritage.”

In other MacDuff news, the company has introduced a limited edition Islay Mist 8yo using sherry casks – one of a limited edition series that it will roll out in coming years. This version uses amontillado napoleon solera casks from Bodegas Hidalgo in Jerez, with other 8yo expressions to follow regularly in coming years.
