MEDFA strikes agreement with Middle East Exclusive organisers

MIDDLE EAST. The Middle East Duty Free Association (MEDFA) has announced a strategic alliance with Channels Exhibitions to jointly present the Middle East Exclusive 2012 event. It will coincide with the MEDFA Conference in Dubai.

MEDFA 2012 will be held on 26-27 November at the new five-star Jumeirah Creek Hotel, operated on behalf of owner Dubai Duty Free by the Jumeirah Group (and set to open in the summer). Middle East Exclusive will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center from 25-27 November. The Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup will follow on 28-29 November.

MEDFA said in a statement today: “On behalf of MEDFA members, we invite you to join us and attend the MEDFA 2012 conference.

“We encourage all duty free and travel retail suppliers to benefit from this week and avail of the Middle East Exclusive Exhibition as a possible platform for their business.”

The move to align the dates with MEDFA’s Conference is a major boost to the Middle East Exclusive event. Until 2007, Middle East Exclusive ran alongside MEDFA, but then moved to new dates in the spring, and struggled to attract many major international brands. Organisers Channels Exhibitions will hope that its agreement with MEDFA can raise its profile within the industry – and allow it to benefit from an association with the industry’s biggest regional conference.
