The ‘Real Value, Real Style’ campaign, designed to boost customer spend at KLIA stores, is reaping rich dividends |
MALAYSIA. Malaysia Airports Holdings is set to add more fashion boutiques to its offer in Kuala Lumpur International Airport’s (KLIA) Satellite Building and increase the number of book stores.
Speaking to The Malay Mail Malaysia Airports Holdings Commercial Services General Manager Umar Bustamam said the new shops will make tourists “feel at home” in KLIA. The company wants the airport to rank as a “shopper’s paradise”.
He told the newspaper: “We aim to make KLIA more than just an airport. We want to make it a shoppers’ haven where tourists can find most of everything they usually look for.”
Umar said the airport recorded a MYR650 million (US$174.8 million) sales volume last year, compared to MYR535 million in 2004. “We hope to see a further increase this year,” he said, adding that the company would organise more contests featuring attractive prizes for shoppers.
These, he said, would complement the Premier Contest, the grand prize of which is a MYR373,000 (US$100,000) Mercedes Benz E-200K.
“We have received 25,500 entries for the Premier Contest, and this has exceeded our initial target of 15,000 entries,” he said. The contest is part of KLIA’s “˜Real Value, Real Style’ shopping campaign which began in November and will end on 31 March.
