INTERNATIONAL. In recognition of the support of Dufry Brasil, Nestlé International Travel Retail (NITR) presented the retailer with its annual Americas regional award at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas this week.

Given for “˜Outstanding Business Achievement’, the award was presented by NITR Regional Business Manager Jean-Michel Juin to Dufry Brasil Regional Procurement Manager Marcelo Neffa.

“This award is greatly deserved; we have achieved significant double digit growth and received fantastic support from Dufry Brasil,” said NITR Head of Sales Ian Robertshaw.

On receiving the award, Neffa said: “Nestlé is a very active supplier and a very important brand for us. We have built up an excellent partnership so it is with great pride that I receive this award.”

Juin added: “Dufry Brasil has always been very attentive to what we have suggested in terms of displays and merchandising. They have always been very focused on NITR brands but the key to our success has definitely been the partnership that we have built up over the years.”

Celebrating a decade in travel retail

To celebrate ten years as a stand-alone business unit, NITR held a cocktail at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 for customers and friends during the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas.

NITR General Manager Catherine Saurais paid homage to [former NITR General Manager and current Abu Dhabi Airports Company Vice President of Commercial Revenues] Dan Cappell for his original foresight that saw the potential of confectionery in travel retail and the set up of NITR.

Saurais also outlined the “tremendous growth” that NITR has seen in confectionery sales over the past decade, particularly in South America. Despite the difficulties faced over the years, especially with currency devaluations in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, sales in the region had increased five-fold.

Saurais thanked NITR Regional Business Manager Jean-Michel Juin for his dedication to the business and, looking ahead, acknowledged the “very strong adverse winds ahead”. However she remained confident of “the resilience and importance of confectionery” and assured all customers present that the NITR team would be doing all they could “to drive confectionery into every basket”.
