Nordic Travel Retail Group to debate regional conditions with SAS Group president and Swedish airport body – 20/12/04

NORDIC MARKETS. The Nordic Travel Retail Group is to debate the region’s travel retail market with the President of SAS Group and the Director General of Swedish Civil Aviation Administration

SAS Group CEO and President Jørgen Lindegaard and Swedish Civil Aviation Administration Director General Lars Rekke will address the next members’ meeting in Stockholm on 24 February

The overall theme of the gathering is “How travel retail serves the travelling public” with a particular focus on air travellers.

Lindegaard is to address travel retail executives from across the whole Nordic region at SAS headquarters in Frösundavik, Stockholm. He will give the delegates a “˜helicopter view’ on how he believes the travel retail industry can add value to his business by being an important part of the travel experience.

He will also attempt to predict the future for air travel and assess how this will influence the future of travel retail.

Rekke will give his view on travel retail’s role from the airports’ perspective. He is responsible for 19 Swedish airports from Malmö in the south to Kiruna north of the polar circle.

The purpose of the gathering is to emphasise the importance of travel retail’s contribution to the whole travel industry, as well as trying to look ahead towards the travel retail market of the future.

Nordic Travel Retail Group chairman Alan Bork said: “In this industry we must never forget that we are not just a trade in itself, with the narrow purpose of selling products from our stores. Our overall raison d´etre is to be an important part of the whole chain of experiences for travellers.” The forum is a closed meeting for members of the Nordic Travel Retail Group.
