SINGAPORE. Intriguing fields and a compelling tendering formula. That’s the tale to date for bidding on two of the big food & beverage opportunities at Singapore Changi Airport’s new Terminal Three, which opens on 9 January 2008.
Eleven bidders are contesting a tender for three brand-name Western specialty bistro concessions at T3’s Departure/Check-in Hall South mezzanine level, including established Changi perfumes & cosmetics retailer Nuance-Watson (Singapore) and international giant HMSHost.
The other bidders were ABR Holding, Bakerzin Holdings, Coffee Club, Hard Rock Café, Jack’s Place Steak House & Restaurant, N.Y.D.C., Olio Restaurants & Cafes, Sarika Gourmet Coffee and Senso Holdings.
The tender is being conducted through a “˜two envelope system’ which aims to ensure the highest qualitative benchmark is set before even considering the financial proposals.
Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore explained: “The tender bid proposal will only be opened for qualified tenderers who have cleared the concept evaluation stage. Subsequently, a corrigendum will be issued to update the tender bids respectively. Tender proposals which did not clear the concept evaluation stage will have their tender bid proposal returned unopened.”
The contracts run for three years with an option to renew for a period of three further years.
THEME BAR ATTRACTS PACKED FIELD
Four specialist theme bars in T3 have attracted even more interest, with 12 bidders lining up. Again these tenders are being held under the two-envelope system, and once more Nuance-Watson (Singapore) has entered the fray. These contracts run for three years.
Other bidders are Corduroy & Finch, Harry’s F&B International, HMSHost, Hard Rock Café, Palms Food International, Pears & Bears, Saint Pierre, Select Service Partner (SSP), The Fullerton Hotel, The Tapas Tree Bay Cafe and iL Lido.
