GERMANY. The latest hi-tech equipment from JVC and Sony will be launched by Pasco at TFWA World Exhibition next week (Stand number: Marine Village R1).
The JVC Everio G Series GZ-MG505 camcorder contains an internal 30GB hard disk drive and can record up to seven hours of DVD movie-quality video or more than 10 hours at DVD camcorder-quality – the equivalent of 22 single sided DVD camcorder discs – without any need for tapes, discs or other recording media. In economy mode, it can record over 37 hours of video.
The hard disk’s high capacity means photos can be taken in high resolution JPEG format of up to 2560×1920 pixels, while the makers say “nearly 10,000 photos can be shot without a second thought, with plenty of room left for hours of video, even at the highest quality settings”.
Weighing 450g, or 520g including the battery and lens cap, the GZ-MG505 has a 2.7inch widescreen 16:9 LCD that displays videos while they are being shot, as well as during playback. The microphone input and accessory shoe provide flexibility to capture sound and attach lighting. Travel retail price is about €1,260.
Sony’s latest in sound and vision
Pasco will also unveil two new products from Sony. The Sony Walkman NW-S203FS digital player has a 1GB built-in flash memory; the NW-S203 incorporates an integral G-sensor, plus fitness functions including steps, distance and calorie counter, and stopwatch.

Designed to be stylish and durable, as well as light and compact, the Walkman has a built-in FM tuner and water-resistant aluminium body, while just three minutes of charging gives three hours playback. Travel retail price is €126.
The DSCN2 is Sony’s new arrival in digital camera technology. A 1/1.7inch CCD produces a high resolution of 10.1 effective megapixels for clear images.
Touch-screen operation is designed for easy use and includes a flexible spot auto-focus function which lets the user focus on a subject by touching it on the LCD monitor. The 3-inch Clear Photo LCD Plus allows images to be viewed in detail. Travel retail price is €386.
