INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Report is set to honour the profound Irish influence in world duty free with a unique publishing project due to be launched in Dubai next month.

The World Rovers is the tale of the Irish people and companies who have helped shape the global duty free business.

It includes a foreword written by Dr Brendan O’Regan, who masterminded the first airport duty free shop in Shannon, Ireland in 1947. 10% of profits are being donated to Mankind Must Manage a World Without War, Dr O’Regan’s charitable cause that champions peace in Ireland and throughout the world.

The book also includes interviews with many of the Irish men and women down the years who have become pivotal figures in the industry’s development – including Colm McLoughlin, Brendan O’Regan, John Sutcliffe, Bill Maloney, David Hope, Liam Skelly and many more.

It features fascinating historical material and rare photographs from many of the Irish-influenced travel retail stores that have been such an integral element of industry history.

The publication will be unveiled at a special ceremony at the Irish Village in Dubai next month during the ACI Business & Trinity Forum – a joint venture between The Moodie Report and ACI World. The Irish Village was created and is run by Dubai Duty Free, whose Managing Director is Galwayman Colm McLoughlin.

To celebrate the launch, The Moodie Report is offering a ticket in the Dubai Duty Free ‘Finest Surprise’ raffle for a luxury motor vehicle [though it can be shipped anywhere, it is not a world Rover -Ed]

Tickets usually cost US$139 and the first name drawn randomly from entrants who answer all three questions correctly goes into the Dubai Duty Free draw for a top-end car.

All you have to do is answer the following:

1. Who are the three well-known figures in the top picture?

2. Who is the former US President in picture 2, and who is presenting his duty free purchase?

3. In which airport are the Irish dancers performing?
