ANTARCTICA. Edrington Group Asia Travel Retail Managing Director Ryan Hill has completed an extraordinary 250km endurance race in Antarctica.
Hill overcame frequent storms, temperatures as low as -20°C and nights sailing in Antarctic waters to raise awareness and funds for The Snow Leopard Trust – a charity that aims to ensure the future of the endangered species.

Speaking after completing the challenge, Hill said: “It’s a fantastic feeling to complete The Last Desert Challenge. With the conditions we faced it was a true test of one’s will power and stamina but the support I had from back home, the motivation of raising funds for a great cause and the camaraderie with fellow competitors spurred me on and helped me push through the pain.”
Hill finished the race in 25th place with his Snow Leopard mascot sidekick, Blizzard, in tow. He has so far raised more than £14,000 – more than 55% of his £25,000 target.

Hill urged people to continue supporting the campaign: “I’m delighted with the response so far to my fundraising appeal and really hope we can reach our target. The potential difference this sum would make to improve the plight of the snow leopard and, just as importantly, to the communities with which it co-exists, is huge.
“I would like to thank all my family, friends, colleagues, peers and corporate sponsors who have supported me thus far, as well as the media for helping me raise awareness for this campaign.”
