US. Marc Rosen’s Shanghai fragrance (The Moodie Report.com, 2 September) was presented to the travel retail trade during a cocktail at last month’s TFWA World Exhibition.
Over 100 people attended the event, which celebrated the international launch of the scent. The Vegaluna Beach restaurant was transformed into a striking red and black “China Club” especially for the festivities.
Shanghai, marketed as “the forbidden fragrance”, made its debut on the US domestic market in February, at Saks Fifth Avenue.
The fragrance will be launched in Shanghai this month. Rosen told The Moodie Report: “On 15 [November] the Mayor of Shanghai and dignitaries and officials from NY State – including Senator Malcolm Smith representing Gov Pataki’s Commission of reversing outsourcing – will join me, my wife actress Arlene Dahl and the cast of the new Merchant-Ivory film being shot in Shanghai, including Ismail Merchant, James Ivory, Vanessa Redgrave, Lynn Redgrave, Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson to celebrate the launch of “Shanghai” perfume in Shanghai with Sogo Department store.
“The party will take place at hot new club Three on the Bund.”
