SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free Shop, under the leadership of CEO Jang Sun-wook, has provided KW40 million (US$36,000) worth of seating to the Seoul Senior Welfare Center.
A ceremony to mark the donation was attended by Kim Joo-nam, the head of the retailer’s Support Department.
The Seoul Welfare Center for the Elderly provides facilities to help, advise and improve the lives of the city’s senior citizens. It provides lunch for 2,000 elderly people every day.
Lotte Duty Free ‘s latest support for the Center arose from a range of volunteer activities involving Lotte staff in February. At that point the company discovered a chronic shortage of restaurant seating for the Center’s visitors and decided to provide around 300 new chairs.
Kim said, “I hope that seniors will now be able to dine in a more pleasant environment. Lotte Duty Free will continue to share the love that the Center’s visitors have received from their neighbours.”
