SINGAPORE. The European Travel Retail Council’s (ETRC) tobacco workshop at TFWA Asia Pacific will address the World Health Organization’s (WHO) challenge to duty free tobacco sales in the region.
The ETRC said that there are clear indications that the WHO and the tobacco control community in general consider countries in the Asia and Pacific regions as prime targets for the implementation of the most restrictive tobacco control measures. According to the ETRC, the abolition of duty free tobacco sales and allowances remains high on their agenda.
The workshop takes place on Tuesday 17 May as part of this year’s TFWA Asia Pacific show.
Sunil Tuli from King Power and Christian Strang from The Nuance Group, both directors of the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA), have agreed to take part in the Workshop panel discussion, to be moderated by Doug Newhouse from The Travel Retail Business.
The Workshop starts at 8.30am, with coffee available from 8.00am. It is located at the Singapore Suntec Centre, room 209 on level two, and is open to all delegates and the press.
