Special touch for Brisbane airport employee

AUSTRALIA. Brisbane Airport Corp (BAC) staff member Mitch Bonaventura has been selected to represent world champions Australia at the prestigious Federation of International Touch World Cup rugby championships in Japan later this month.

Mitch, BAC’s duty co-ordination manager, has been named in the Australian team for the first time. In the tournament, Australia will compete against New Zealand, Cook Islands, Norfolk Island, Solomon Islands, Fiji, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Italy, Pakistan, India, Singapore, Japan, United States of America, Canada, Malaysia, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Germany, Thailand and Jersey.

“It is a great honour to be selected and would not be possible without the support I have received from BAC, Qantas, DownTown Duty Free and Australian Way,” said Mitch. BAC said it wishes Mitch good luck and every success at the event.

Late last year Mitch, and fellow BAC employee Feona Duncombe, organised the highly-successful inaugural Australian Aviation Industry Touch Sevens Tournament (AAITS) which raised A$3,400 for equipment and research into childhood diseases at the Royal Brisbane Children’s Hospital. Mitch and his team are already planning the 2003 AAITS following the widespread support from the Brisbane aviation community last year.
