The opening of Blanc et Noir is the latest stage in a £13 million terminal redevelopment programme at Birmingham Airport |
UK. Food travel group SSP has announced the launch of its new Champagne and Wine bar, Blanc et Noir, at Birmingham Airport. Described as a premium but accessible experience from environment to menu, the concept has been developed for the UK market specifically for the airport.
“Situated in the Departure Lounge, airside, the bar offers 30 covers and a range of value promotions within an intimate, luxurious environment. It has been developed in response to consumer insights showing that passengers still enjoy occasionally treating themselves, despite recessionary pressures,” said the company.
As well as a range of Champagnes and fine wines, Blanc et Noir will offer quality coffees, continental mezze and cheese platters and open sandwiches. For a limited period customers can also enjoy “˜Afternoon Artistry’ an offer which includes king prawns, Scottish smoked salmon, rocket and watercress, buttered artisan sesame bread and a 125ml glass of Albert Beerens Brut Reserve NV Champagne – all for £16.
SSP UK Brands Director Wayne Chapman said: “The opening of Blanc et Noir Champagne and Wine bar at Birmingham Airport is a key part of our redevelopment of the retail and catering environment within the terminal. We are constantly looking at ways to connect with and welcoming new customers and such an impressive addition as this does exactly that, with style.
“We’re very excited to be able to offer this luxury brand in Birmingham Airport, and it was thanks to our Birmingham based focus groups who loved both the concept and prices which made Birmingham Airport the ideal first choice. A visit to Blanc et Noir creates a real sense of occasion without being intimidating and helps any journey for all types of customer,” Chapman added.
Birmingham Airport Head of Market Development – Commercial Richard Gill said: “This concept was the ideal choice for a range of passengers. Whether it is holidaymakers looking to start their trip in style or business travellers, we believe the new Champagne bar will appeal to passengers who are looking for something extra special. The opening of Blanc et Noir is the latest stage in the £13 million terminal redevelopment and it widens the choice available to passengers seeking refreshment while waiting to board flights.”
