UAE. Emirates is unveiling an extraordinary tribute to its new non-stop routes to New York, by producing the world’s tallest window graphic.
Over recent weeks Dubai-bound commuting drivers on Sheikh Zayed Road have observed twin cradles working around-the-clock on the windows of the 55-storey Emirates-owned Century Tower, itself the world’s tallest residential tower. But mystery surrounded the nature of the project.
Now all is about to be revealed. The huge jigsaw puzzle that has been gradually nearing completion on the shiny glass is a gigantic graphic of the famous New York landmark, the Statue of Liberty.
Set to dominate the Dubai skyline, the graphic covers 53-storeys and 180 metres in height. It can be seen from 10 kilometres away.
Emirates’ Senior Vice-President Corporate Communications Mike Simon said: “Our window graphic is guaranteed to create a sensation not just in Dubai but worldwide. We chose to depict the Statue of Liberty because of its instant recognition and identification with New York City. It is a very apt embodiment of our excitement about this new route and lofty plans for the Americas. Emirates’ long term aim is to enjoy the same kind of global recognition as the statue itself.”
Note: Since 1 June Emirates has been flying daily non-stop to JFK. The current “˜window graphic world record’ is held by Phoenix Communications, producers of a panel measuring 6,760 sq m (72,762 sq ft) which was featured on the front side of the 43-storey COEX building in Sam-Sung-Dong, KangNam-Gu, Seoul, South Korea in June 2002.
