Ted Baker opens new stand-alone store at London Stansted

UK. Ted Baker has strengthened its presence in travel retail with a new, stand-alone store at London Stansted airport. The brand already operates shops at London Heathrow terminal four and London Gatwick South.

Located airside in the departure lounge, the 706sq ft boutique carries items from Ted Baker’s mainline men’s and women’s collection, in addition to travel-related products and accessories.

BAA retail director UK airports Colin Hargrave commented: “We are delighted that Ted Baker has extended its travel retail commitment with the opening of the new store at Stansted. The company joins at an exciting time as we continue to bring new stores to the airport and add to our passengers’ overall travel experience.

“Since its expansion last summer to incorporate an additional 30,000sq ft, Stansted airport has led the way both in terms of design and innovation, and the choice of retail and catering outlets on offer.”

A spokesperson for Ted Baker added: “The move to open at Stansted builds on the success of our travel retail commitment. The distinct passenger profile at Stansted made the location an obvious choice and an extension of our core market.”

Stansted already boasts a varied fashion offer that includes Quiksilver, French Connection, Hackett and Austin Reed. New stores and renovations – across all categories – have been a key feature of the location’s ongoing redevelopment, which began in earnest around 18 months ago. The final phase of the project, which involves redeveloping a further 6,000sq ft, will begin this winter, to be completed by spring 2005.
