UK. The Balvenie single malt Scotch whisky has won three Gold medals and the top Master award for The Balvenie Peated Cask at this year’s Whisky Masters Awards.
The whiskies recognised were The Balvenie Peated Cask, Aged 17 Years (Master); The Balvenie PortWood, Aged 21 Years (Gold); The Balvenie Thirty (Gold); and The Balvenie Forty (Gold).

Commenting on the achievement, The Balvenie Malt Master David Stewart remarked: “The Balvenie Peated Cask and The Balvenie Forty are recent additions to The Balvenie family of expressions, so it’s wonderful to see them honoured alongside The Balvenie PortWood and The Balvenie Thirty, by such a prestigious competition.
“The win is a true testament to the hard work of The Balvenie Distillery craftsmen, whose skills are essential to the crafting of The Balvenie Single Malt. There will definitely be a dram or two raised in celebration of this win.”
Nestled in the Scottish Highlands, The Balvenie Distillery still uses the five rare crafts of malt whisky making. It claims to be the only distillery that still employs all the traditional methods of malt whisky making – from growing its own barley and malting in its own traditional floor maltings, to employing a team of coopers to tend all the casks and a coppersmith to maintain the stills.
Earlier this year The Balvenie Peated Cask won the Chairman’s Trophy at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge and The Balvenie Thirty won a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
