IRELAND/INTERNATIONAL. The Moodie Report’s launch of The World Rovers – the tale of the Irish influence in the duty free industry over the past 60 years* – has been welcomed by industry founder Dr Brendan O’Regan.

The work, written by Dermot Davitt and Martin Moodie, was launched in Dubai last month, where the first copy was presented to Dubai Duty Free Managing Director (and Galwayman) Colm McLoughlin. It was also presented to delegates at the ACI Airport Business & Trinity Forum in Dubai – and will be mailed out to all readers of The Moodie Report print edition next month.

Dr O’Regan wrote: “I am writing to thank you for the kind words you wrote about me in “˜The World Rovers’. It is a wonderful tribute for which I am very grateful to you and those who have worked with you to bring about such a fine production.

“I was humbled by the exhibition [launched at the Clare Museum in Ennis in February, which features in the book – Ed] about my life, which was in reality a tribute to the achievements of the people of the Shannon region. The people of that region empowered me to achieve what we did in those years.

“I was particularly pleased to see the emphasis that you placed on the work in the pursuance of peace and my latest initiative Mankind Must Manage World Without War. The campaign continues – the MMMWWW booklets are now available online. I have a representative in Belfast developing links with leading academics throughout the world and through the Irish Peace Institute at the University of Limerick.

“I would like to thank you for the offer of donating 10% from the publication of the “˜The World Rovers’. This will be extremely useful and will help us expand our publications and to publicise the new website www.mmmwww.org.

“It is a most generous gesture. Kind regards and all good wishes.

Yours sincerely,

Brendan O’Regan”
