The Wild Geese’s new heavy-based cube decanter was unveiled at Vinexpo |
UK/FRANCE. The Wild Geese Rare Irish Whiskey beat off the challenge of over 100 entries from leading brands to take a Gold Medal in the Drinks International 2007 Cocktail Challenge in France last week.
“˜The Long Goodbye’ – comprising The Wild Geese, elderflower cordial, strawberries, lime, vanilla sugar and white lemonade – won the brown spirit-based long drinks category at the Vinexpo wine and spirits exhibition in Bordeaux, where the whiskey was being presented in its new heavy-based cube decanter for the first time.
“We could not be more pleased,” said Andre Levy, CEO of Protégé International, which markets and distributes the whiskey. “The Long Goodbye is an innovative cocktail with a delectable light fruity taste overlaying the rich malt flavour of the whiskey. Its victory in this competition, which is judged by renowned professionals from the liquor industry, marks a high point in the whiskey’s own journey from relative unknown to international star.”
